My brother is in town visiting, is eating gluten-free, and wanted some Thai. I pulled up my handy Yelp app and located seemingly the only Thai place in Lake Zurich. Ambience: Kinda kitschy. A lot of the decorations are for sale. Love the elephant decor! We had the Crab Rangoons, which weren't the typical style I've had: it included celery and has very little filling. I wasn't a huge fan. The Pot Stickers, on the other hand, were really great: very crispy outside and a nice flavor. ALL of the portions were HUGE and suited for 3 meals/people. My bro ordered the Chicken Pad Thai which he really enjoyed (he LOVES Pad Thai). My mom ordered the Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp. There were about 6 good-sized shrimp. She enjoyed it. I had the Panang Curry with Seafood, which I've never had. It had a nice flavor and low-medium heat, but was a bit too runny for my liking. The veggie and seafood ratio was good. We had Mango and Sticky Sweet Rice for dessert. It was very good as well. Service was a little slow, but the woman was VERY attentive! Water was refilled, and she brought out a smaller water glass with a straw for my nephew. She listened to him patiently as he talked about Spider Man and showed off his T-shirt and shoes. Later, she tried to convince him to eat by talking about how he had to be big and strong like Spidey. :) We'd go back!

Ordered the Pad See Ew lunch special...the complimentary soup was not edible, too many unidentifiable bits and bobs for me. The order came and yes looked good, even tasted OK. Paid my bill and began the walk back to my hotel. That short walk became a power walk as something was stirring and not in a good way. The quote "Release the kraken..." came to mind as I made my way hastily to my room. I can in no way recommend this restaurant unless you are on some strange weight loss program that would require a quick exit from your system.

Had family over and they wanted Thai food. Ordered $70 of food and was completely a waste. Never again. Family now wants to take us to their Thai place so we can see what good thai food is.

All I can say is.... Siri Thai, are you siri-ous? Disaster. This place is just so depressing. I went at 6.30 on a Saturday night and there was only one other table occupied, so I had a bad feeling from the start. And I know the other reviews have mentioned it, but you cannot fathom just how tacky this place and its kitschy wares are until you experience it firsthand. The dining room is literally strewn with CRAP marked with price tags. Definitely takes away from what little ambient potential Siri Thai could have. I'll just cut to the chase - this place is grody and I'm not confident in the freshness OR quality of the food they use. The spring rolls were DISGUSTING - I'm pretty sure there was ground beef in there (?!) and they were slathered with a spicy, goopy mess that I still can't identify. I had yellow curry and my dad had seafood. The curry's flavor wasn't bad but it came with really strange vegetables - not traditional at all and most likely straight out of the freezer. My dad's seafood medley was tough and unappetizing. I honestly can't believe he got through it. Just... don't go here. Sometimes, it's a mercy to let something die. At least then everyone will be out of their misery.

If you're a huge fan if chachkie shopping while eating great Thai food this place is your go to joint. Same owners as the Siri Thai in palatine. Good food and lots to look at while enjoying your meal.

The appetizer course was the best. We love the 'Queen of Tofu': battered-and-deep-fried tofu covered in a sticky, sweet sauce. Order a cucumber salad to balance the texture and sweetness with some vinegar and crunch. Our entrees were good but unremarkable, and everything was less spicy than I'd have liked. The decor has just gotten weird. The restaurant was always comfortably stuffed with Thai artwork and statues of Buddha. Since my last visit, they've added an inexplicable collection of items to the arrangements, many of which have price stickers, either left over from the flea market where they were purchased, or maybe they're *for sale*? Poster of the Golden Gate Bridge, statue of a golfer, Christmas wreaths... it makes for a lengthy conversation topic for you and your date, for certain.

Nothing great here. Had to try based on reviews. Won't be back

Unfortunately the Panang curry was too watery and the ratio of vegetables to meat was like 10 to 1. The Pad thai was average, but I have definitely had much better. Satay chicken was fried and not grilled. Such a shame as I wanted to find a good local thai to frequent. Service was good, and I didn't experience any issues with service per se. They did make a mistake and put peanuts in the Pad Thai when I asked them not to, but they made fresh and gave to us in a matter of minutes.

Very good. Also sell Asian statues and things like that. They also sell Santa stuff on an odd note too. There are pictures of Linda Yu and peopole from ABC 7 as they were apparently featured. They also have three other locations.

Went here for the first time tonight, and was pleasantly surprised. For a hidden strip mall Thai place, Siri Thai isn't that bad. They were quite busy for a Friday night, with both phones ringing off the hook when I arrived to pick up the meal I'd phoned in about 20 minutes earlier. No complaints there..the food was ready when I arrived. However, both phones had to be attended, so my food sat off to the side for awhile while the person ordering tried to convey their order and make sure it was understood. They apparently wanted to make sure that they got their name precisely right (to that idiotic person--was there going to be a spelling bee for the hostess with your name as a word tomorrow??? Do what I do when ordering take out and someone mispronounces your name--just go with it! It's a little fun, and you're not tying up other people's time for something that doesn't matter too much. About the food... It made it home still warm and so I dug in right away. The portion sizes are the usual for most Thai or Chinese restaurants--large enough for a day and a half of leftovers. The Hot Chili Garlic Shrimp was very tasty and spicy. Probably a little too spicy for most people, but I liked it. It was spicy enough to make the lips and tongue tingle, but not spicy enough to make me run for a glass of milk. Surprisingly, the shrimp hadn't had time to absorb most of the flavors of the dish, and so wasn't the centerpiece of the dish. The eggplant chunks were firm, but had absorbed most of the flavors perfectly. I could almost eat a whole dish of eggplant stewed in any of their delicious sauces after this evening's meal. The ginger beef was a good mix of flavors, but there was a heavy reliance on big slices of onion as a major portion of this dish. The flavor was great, and the sauce will sure taste terrific over the leftover rice tomorrow, but after the excess onions are dealt with. The restaurant itself had kind of a kitschy feel to it with all the knickknacks for sale right inside the doorway, but this added to the quizzical charm of the place. I'm not quite sure how the $90 bronze golfer right inside the doorway or the miniature 1950s gas pump sitting off to the side got mixed in with all the other items that were a little more related to Thailand's history and culture, but I'm sure they could provide an excellent conversation starter!

Sorry, stopped in for lunch and ordered the green curry. It was a gloppy, goopy mess. The pre meal soup was tasteless and thick. The curry was thick and also tasteless. Service was good, just not very good thai food. I will not be returning.

I had no idea that this was the same owner as Siri Thai in Palatine. I was in Lake Zurich and hungry as it was dinner time on Super Bowl Sunday and since the Bears quarterback didn't show up during the playoffs, they didn't make it to Superbowl so I wasn't into sitting home watching the game. I have to admit there were a bit too many artificial flowers for my taste, and kind of a mix of whatever (statues, pictures potted plants). It was clean and very quiet but the woman that seated us and the gentleman that took our order were very pleasant. I had the hot and sour soup, what can you say about pure heaven in a bowl. It is never a disappointment. I had the spicy chili tofu dish and it too was good although it could have used more tofu. I also wish that the vegetables that they used were not the frozen from the bag type. The sauce was very good though Now knowing that they are one and the same, I think I will go to the Palatine location.

After living around the area for so long, I'm surprised I never realized Thai food existed here. You can imagine my thrill when I stumbled upon Siri Thai. It was very dark, so we weren't even sure if it was open even though the large fluorescent "open" sign was on. Unfortunately, my family was the only one there on a Sunday around 8PM, and the only reason I can think of is because of the location/timing. (Or was it also due to the fact that most people may have thought it was closed?) Despite the lack of other customers, the (owners?) were very accommodating and incredibly nice and smiley. It felt like a private meal, actually. All our meals were practically made to order. I really appreciated the fact that they took the time to note my dietary restrictions and even came back to ask if chicken broth or eggs were okay in my orders--most restaurants do not make that effort. The tom yum soup came out hot and fresh. I have to say that was probably one of the best tom yum soups I've ever had. Our sweet and sour tofu appetizer was really good too. It seemed like everything, down to the ground chili, was homemade. Feeling highly unoriginal, I went with an order of pad thai--it was HUGE. And yummy. I'll have a pre-determined lunch and a dinner meal tomorrow. I've noticed people comment on the wait, and all I can say is if you really want the food cooked right, some dishes just require that time. Considering all our food was carefully made, I personally did not mind the wait at all. From start to finish, we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. The wait time for the food was probably around 30 minutes, and for a meal that I felt was pretty darn authentic, I would say it's worth it. I wasn't a big fan of their Thai iced tea, however. I can't quite pinpoint why; I might just be more partial to a different restaurant's version. As far as desserts go, I was a huge fan of their sticky rice and mango dish! I always knew I was a mango lover, but I also discovered that their coconut-y sticky rice is now a favorite! Overall, very good experience. I would like to see more people discover this hidden gem. If all the above was too long to read: Good food. Good people.

We were on the way home from a day-long drive and I started feeling a bit stuffy in my head. The decision was made that a curry would set my sinuses right. Fortunately, google maps told me I was just 15 minutes from Siri Thai so we wandered over. It was late, so we were thrilled to find that they'd still seat us 30 minutes before close. We each ordered a curry, hers yellow and mine red. We figured that curries would be kind to a cook trying to close up the kitchen. As I ordered, I noticed that both came with 'mixed vegetables' and I'm a little picky about my veggies, but I thought it'd be easy enough to pick out anything strange that I didn't like. After a short wait the waiter dude shuffled back to our tables with bowls a-steaming, but as he set mine down I noticed something wasn't right. The 'mixed vegetables' weren't some wild assortment of exotic roughage, they were the green beans/lima beans/corn/carrots/peas that my gramma would keep in the freezer and distribute as a half healthy half punitive measure when we weren't being good. Being both hungry and sniffly by this point I hunkered down and ate it, but the curry itself was bland and watery, and the freezer-veggies really threw off what little flavor was there. In the end this was a great disappointment, but I'll now keep in mind that stripmall thai on the outskirts of civilization is a gamble not worth taking.

That's funny...i typed in 'grant and bush' in the intersection space on my GPS, yet the sign says Siri Thai. Wait, we're not in San Francisco?!? The owners here are trying to hoodwink us....Slyly stocking their unassuming storefront with an unwieldily supply of ceramic buddahs, twisting hookahs, used ballet slippers, rubber toys, and faded posters of telegraph hill...all in attempt to pull us into a completely empty venue for the purposes of sitting us down and bringing us plate after plate of food accompanied by rice. but this is why we have Yelp to fight off such tomfoolery! We know how things work and the GPS clearly says we are not in Chinatown. This is actually quite decent Thai food, prepared by people who know what they are doing for the most part. All the usual suspects are in the lineup...pad kee mow, pad Thais, curries, etc. Etc. The one kicker, and it's a biggie, is i can't imagine eating inside the restaurant anymore. Having ordered takeout from here many times over 10 years, this place has devolved from average, albeit slightly tacky Thai decor, to the hot mess described above. It almost makes you wonder if we are indeed being double crossed. Perhaps the takeout receipts make enough profit such that the costs to staff the restaurant for eat-in service cut into the fat. So they make it strange enough to force the customers hand...brilliant! On the other hand, considering there is a retail showroom for vacuum cleaners (really?) in the same strip mall, maybe this parcel is some sort of weird front for nefarious activity. No matter, this is good Thai takeout at a manageable ding to the wallet.

I decided to try out this location of Siri Thai because I was a huge fan of the Palatine location. I was a bit disappointed. When I first arrived I thought the restaurant was closed because it was so dark and there were no cars in the parking lot. I decided to try the door and it was open... but we were the only diners. Even though the restaurant was empty, the service was still slow and a bit inattentive. I have to go up to the counter to ask for the check and boxes. However, the service that we did receive was very friendly. I was also agree that the decor here seems a little confused and cluttered. The Hot and Sour Soup was awesome as always but it had less ingredients than the Palatine location. I got my usual Pad See Ewe with beef which was just okay. It had less flavor than usual and too much bok choy. I felt like I was eating a salad rather than noodles with beef. I will try this location again if I am in the area., But if given a choice, I would go to the Palatine location over the Lake Zurich location any day.

I'm a big fan (and customer for over a decade) of Siri Thai's Palatine location, so I felt let down when I got take out from their restaurant in Lake Zurich. Pad kee mao and tom yum chicken soup, both of which usually stand up pretty good to being picked up. Both the soup and the noodles were exactly OK: not bad, really, just by-the-numbers, boring, and uninspired. I may come back and give them another try -- maybe they are better when you dine in? -- but it's hard to believe that they are related to Siri Thai in Palatine. I'm something of a Thai food addict, so having to write off a nearby restaurant that serves it is somewhat painful.

I've been here twice since discovering it here on Yelp and I am very happy! The Pad See Ewe is DELICIOUS and I will definitely keep returning for it. Every time I've been there, the restaurant is empty (which I find a little odd). Granted, I've gone at slightly off-hours like 2:00 and 4:45 PM. The only reasons this place doesn't have 5 stars is because both times I've been there, I've had to locate someone to seat us and the restaurant is FILLED with items for sale. It's a little awkward to have to hunt down the host (who, by the way, is a very pleasant older man!) Some of the items for sale are interesting to look at, but it's an odd collection of Virgin Marys and classic Asian art. They're interesting to look at while you're waiting for food and such, but the little price tags everywhere are a bit odd. I recommend at least trying this place! My friend (who has never had Thai and bravely trusted my guidance) really enjoyed it too!

The whole experience at this place is funky. And I have been there several times over the past 4 years. The food is ok - not great. Stick to the noodle dishes. They use frozen mixed vegetables in their curry and stir fry dishes. The place is normally empty. Not sure how they stay in business. Lots of dusty old chachkes for sale that are displayed throughout the resturant. Service is off beat, slow and unpredictable at times. Never know what you are going to get when you venture in!

I went to scope this place out on a Monday night. 6 PM and I was the only person there. Decor is great but there was no music playing. I was served by a no-nonsense older man wearing sandals of all things. He gave me a karaf of water and did not check on me until I was done eating. I ordered the Basil Beef. The dish was definitely westernized since it came with a gravy/sauce. It tasted "Thai" given the fish sauce and basil used but the real dish is dry sauteed. Also the sauce seemed very sweet to me but I've pretty much banished sugar from my diet so maybe it was just my taste buds. Also no larb on the menu :(

Siri Thai is better at carry-out than dining in. The food is quite good, but the service is terrible. It takes forever for dine-in customers to get their food. That said, the pad Thai is quite good, as are the Crazy Noodles. Definitely worth a try for carry-out. If you want to dine-in, you'd better be prepared for a healthly wait - after you've been seated.

Its great! I think one of the best Thai restaurants that I've eaten at. The service can be slow sometimes but the employees are great there. Very friendly. I even took one of my employees there, who is Thai, and she LOVED it. She said the food was very authentic.

The massamun curry is awesome. So is the Tom Yum soup. I love this place...it's like being back in Chicago at a good thai restaurant. You don't find this quality out here in the sticks that often.

Surprising little Thai place in a strip mall. Very decent quality food--fresh and authentic. Ordering out took forever! They appear to be understaffed. Michael Locker MD

Swift service, dreamy Thai-palace ambiance and outstanding dishes at very reasonable places = five stars. Wine and beer selection is appropriate for the cuisine with some sweet whites and strong ales to pair with Siri Thai's strongly spiced and seasoned entrees. Hot tea is also a sweet, flavorful orange tonic served in porcelain frog and elephant pots: much better than the standard bag of pekoe that gets thrown in with Chinese-to-go orders and so many cheap Thai joints. Appetizers are hot, fresh, carefully seasoned and cooked: delicious. Peanut sauce is homemade. My boyfriend called their fried rice ($7.95) "the best he's ever had" and I have similar accolades for the Spicy Crazy Noodles ($8.95). As is typical for me, I asked for "extra spicy" and they hit the hotness level right on the nose: I could tell they hadn't just thrown in more rooster sauce. The noodles were exquisite and just the right size. A "Thai custard" ($3.95) made with "sugar crane" and another pot of tea was a cool way to wrap up a perfect meal. We'll be back many times.

VERY unhappy. I was looking for a Thai restaurant in Lake Zurich where I lived and took the advice of the Yelp users. I drove over to Siri Thai to view the menu and then placed my order for carry out (Pork Satay, Egg Rolls, COMBO Fried Rice, and COMBO Pad Thai). I was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I ran an errand and came back about 25 minutes later. I had been back for about 15 minutes (40 minutes after placing order) when i was told that they were out of the Pork Satay and would I like to substitute. I went with the Chicken Satay. 15 minutes after that (55 minutes after placing my order) I was told that while my food was ready, but they forgot to make my Fried Rice and Pad Thai as combo. Both were chicken only. I was given a refund of $2.00 total for both. So, after waiting 55 minutes for my food to cook. The order was still wrong. Now, the Chicken Satay was fair. A little bland. The egg rolls were decent. The Chicken Fried Rice was bland. The Chicken Pad Thai was good. Had a nice spice to it. The portions were good sized. This was my first and it will definitely be my last time going to Siri Thai. I was offered no apology from either the Host, Owner, or other. I could possibly understand this lack of service if the place was jammed with customers. When I placed my order, I was THE ONLY person there. When I returned 25 minutes later, there were only 2 table with customers. 2 people came in to pick up their carry out orders. One of the tables actually was eating their meal BEFORE my carry out order was even ready. This is unacceptable. Even without this horrible lack of service, the food still would have only rated 2 or 2 1/2 stars.

  • Amy I.

The food was great but the service was awful. The two of us arrived just before 7, ordered immediately and didn't get our check paid until nearly 8:30. There appeared to be only two people working and I suspect one of them was doing the cooking, hopefully it is better staffed most of the time. The food was not incredibly spicy, but it was very tasty so I would consider carry-out if you are in a hurry. The decor (as previously mentioned) looks like a flea market exploded. There is no rhyme or reason to the items and many of the tables are covered with weird pieces with price tags.
